It hasn’t been ‘officially’ announced but we’re live…shhh…tell everyone!

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Hey Folks-
If you’re reading this, you know spikeball.com is alive and kicking like a 3 hour old donkey. We’re fixing the kinks and polishing her up before she’s ready to come out of the garage and get that MASS EMAIL telling the world she’s live. That note is coming in the next few days but for now, consider yourself freakin’ royalty for seeing this before the announcement.

I’m still playing around with the blog software to see how it all works so please read and click slowly so I can keep up. I’m decent with the internets and the Google (who said that?) but am new to blogging so let’s consider this an experiment and see how she goes…

Since we’re in our not so secret “stealth mode” go ahead play around on the site. I know there are some periods and question marks where there shouldn’t be. Knowing our audience is a bright one, I left those there to test your punctuation skillz. Send me a note at chris at spikeball.com with any irregularities you find. There may even be a free Spikeball sticker in it for you…if you’re nice.

OK, here is where we need your help. As I mentioned a few weeks ago we are getting tons of people (I’m hearin’ you San Diego) asking us about the game. Who knew people in Turkey would want to play? The feedback is great but we need more, more, and just a bit more. Let’s spread this site quicker than that rash you had sophomore year in college. Send this site to your ENTIRE ADDRESS BOOK and you can be the one to say, “Why am I the coolest kid on the block? Because I knew about Spikeball before it was even launched” and watch your friends turn green with envy.

As our friend from Kazakhstan would say, “Wa Wa Wee Wa”

See you on the beach,

Chris

Spikeball Launch Coming any day now…

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Hey Everyone,
You better be feeling good. Why? You are one of the privileged recipients of the first Spikeball Newsletter. Print it, frame it, smoke it - we don ’t care- just make sure you give it a good read and help spread the love by sending it on to friends.

I didn’t want to send this out until we were closer to the launch but the stack of “When can I get my own set?” emails is getting a bit deep. This is music to my ears. Spikeballers’ demands can’t be ignored.

June 1st…or right around there is the answer. That’s when 5 years worth of “We really should launch Spikeball as a business” discussions on the beach will finally materialize. 5 years? Our bad for allowing you to sit so bored on the beach this whole time. No worries- we’ll make it up to you. Once you play, you’ll instantly forgive us and fall in love with the hottest thing to hit the beach since Hasselhoff.

So what are we doing right now? Why wait until June 1st’ish to launch? Other than sitting on a runway (2+ hours!) while writing this, we are refining the web site (it WILL win awards), tweaking the final net design, and lining up the details for the launch party in Chicago on June 14th. You’re on the list- don’t worry. Our non-Chicago friends need not worry; we’ll add events closer to you and your beach as we move along through this soon-to-be-epic-summer. We are getting requests from folks in places like Italy, Florida, Maryland, California, and even Poland…anyone know of a good beach in Poland?

I keep referring to “We.” Who are we? There are 8 of us launching Spikeball. We are from Kankakee and Scotland aka KankaScot- equally tropical places. As we get further down the road we’ll share more about us, how we got here, and our innate ability to absolutely dominate on the beach. The “About Us” section on the site that launches June 1st will be the finest About Us section you’ve ever read.

“Turn off all electronic devices and fold up the tray” is on so I’ve got to run. I’m not going to ask yet, but be prepared for the next newsletter where I ask all of you to invite your Facebook friends to join the group. In the meantime send this literary masterpiece to your friends and enemies. Do it and feel the Spikeball karma creep into your life…it can’t be denied.

Enjoy,

Chris
